Hi! I just finished my sophomore year of college at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. If you asked me what two of my favorites things are, I’d probably say, “Art and people;” majoring in studio art and communication is definitely a perfect fit for me. I love the feeling when you’re able to make someone’s vision come to life. It’s so rewarding to make someone feel like they’ve been heard and their thoughts were appreciated. I know that working in marketing is a perfect fit for me. I’m able to be creative for a paycheck; what’s better than that?
I know that artists are known for being loners, but using art for communication is one of my favorite things. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy being alone, but I find I’m so much more productive when I’m with people. I get easily distracted, so having people around keeps me on track. I love anything that lets me be creative: drawing, painting, writing, sewing, designing, the list goes on and on. When mentioning my favorite things, it would be a shame not to mention my friends and family. They mean so much to me. Also, Hi mom! Look at me, I’m on the internet!
Family or background: I am the youngest of three kids and grew up in the small town of Hudsonville, MI.
Education: Currently attending Hope College with majors in studio art and communication
What’s your favorite movie quote? “It-it- the f – it -flam – flames. Flames, on the side of my face, breathing-breathl- heaving breaths.”- Mrs. White from Clue
What’s the most unusual job you’ve ever had? I worked at Joann Fabrics in high school. I was the youngest person on staff and worked with a lot of elderly women.
Who is your alter ego? Jess from New Girl, minus the nicely-groomed bangs.
What are three things you enjoy doing in your spare time? Watercolor painting, reading, and sewing. Yes, I am an old woman at heart.
Favorite Beverage? Grape Soda. Or frozen lemonades from Chick-fil-a. Oh, or peach tea. I’m indecisive.
Worst movie of all time? Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Always skip this one when re-watching them. It’s even worse than Crystal Skull, which is saying something…
Favorite Book? “The Boston Girl” by Anita Diamant
Favorite spot you’ve travelled to? Mackinac Island. It feels like a car-less, horse-filled dream there.
Toilet paper over or under? Whichever way I put it onto the toilet paper holder… but mostly over.
